NDLEA Seizes ₦6.2bn Captagon and Opioids at Lagos Airport
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it intercepted 47,200 Captagon tablets and more than 3.9 million opioid pills valued at over ₦6.2 billion at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The Captagon tablets, valued at over ₦1.5 billion, were allegedly concealed inside blocks of local bathing soap brought into Nigeria from Accra. A 49-year-old suspect was arrested and reportedly said he was to deliver the consignment to northern Nigeria. NDLEA also recovered abandoned consignments containing Tramaking and Tapentadol tablets valued at more than ₦4.6 billion. The agency said the shipments arrived from Bangladesh and Amsterdam and had been placed under surveillance after no importer came forward.
