Osun APC Alleges Planned Takeover of 30 LG Secretariats, Seeks Security Intervention

The Osun APC has asked security agencies to prevent an alleged attempt by PDP-linked local government executives to take control of 30 council secretariats and an area office in the state. The party alleged that political thugs were being mobilised from within and outside Osun to support the planned action. It urged the police, DSS and NSCDC to intervene before the situation causes a breakdown of law and order. According to the APC, the dispute over control of the councils is still before the Court of Appeal in Akure. It called on all parties to await the court’s decision rather than attempt any forceful takeover. The Osun Government and the PDP had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of the report.
