Amotekun Foils Kidnappers, Rescues Father and Son in Ondo
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, carried out a late-night operation along Oda Road in Akure South and freed Segun Makinde and his 15-year-old son from abductors. Corps Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye said the pair were seized at Pelebe between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on March 27, 2026. Amotekun’s Rapid Response Squad tracked the kidnappers and engaged them in a gun battle around 1:00 a.m., forcing the criminals to flee. Makinde recounted that armed men ambushed him at his residence, shot at his vehicle and dragged him into the bush. The group grew in number as they marched the victims deeper into the forest, beating them and threatening to kill them if they resisted. The father and son seized an opportunity to run upon hearing voices nearby. As their captors opened fire, Amotekun operatives returned fire and created confusion that allowed the duo to hide. They were later found, given medical attention and taken to the Amotekun headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure. Makinde expressed deep gratitude for the swift rescue.
