APPMEN Launches Lagos Council to Support Private Media Owners
The Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishment of Nigeria has inaugurated its Lagos State Council, pledging to improve professionalism, safety and business opportunities for private media owners. The council, led by State Coordinator Princess Agbonifo, unveiled a three-point agenda of Professionalism, Protection and Prosperity. Plans include training in fact-checking, investigative reporting, content monetisation and artificial intelligence tools. The group also plans to create a rapid-response desk for members facing threats or harassment, engage security agencies and the Lagos State Government, and pursue advertising, grants, loans and digital monetisation opportunities for members.
