NDLEA Arrests Mexican Suspect as Ebonyi Meth Lab Investigation Expands
The NDLEA says it arrested Arturo Carrera Loaiza, a 40-year-old Mexican national, at Lagos international airport while he was attempting to leave Nigeria. Investigators said images and location data recovered during the arrest led them to a suspected methamphetamine laboratory in Ebonyi State. The agency reported recovering chemical substances, processing equipment and CCTV footage from the site. Loaiza has denied involvement, saying he came to Nigeria for a restaurant business venture. The agency linked the case to earlier raids on suspected meth laboratories in Oyo and Ogun states, involving Mexican nationals and Nigerians. NDLEA says it is still investigating those suspected of financing or facilitating the network.
