Pastor Anazodo’s Supporters Allegedly Attack Journalists at Anambra Court
Mild drama occurred at the Anambra State High Court in Awka on Tuesday after people believed to be supporters of Pastor Harrison Anazodo allegedly confronted journalists and cameramen covering his trial. Witnesses said the supporters used umbrellas and their hands to shield the cleric from cameras. They were also accused of pushing journalists as the vehicle conveying him reversed towards the court entrance. Three journalists reportedly had their phones damaged. Anazodo, the General Overseer of Dayspring Assembly, is facing a seven-count charge under the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025. He has been accused of promoting wealth accumulation through supernatural means and other alleged offences, which he is expected to answer in court. The state Attorney-General said the defendant’s lawyer apologised and agreed to replace the damaged devices. The court reportedly accepted the apology and directed that the gadgets be replaced.
