NPA, NPERA Plan Joint Framework for Inland Dry Port Transition
The Nigerian Ports Authority and the Nigerian Ports Economic Regulatory Agency are working on a framework to ensure a smooth transfer of Inland Dry Ports regulatory functions. The move follows the Federal Government’s recent reforms in the marine and blue economy sector. The reforms transferred the regulatory oversight of Inland Dry Ports after the Nigerian Ports Economic Regulatory Agency Act, 2026, expanded the agency’s mandate. Both agencies said closer coordination could reduce operational conflicts, improve cargo movement from seaports to the hinterland and support trade logistics. A proposed technical working group would include the ministry, NPA, NPERA, NIMASA, NIWA and the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
