Atiku Dares FG to Probe Him Over Alleged $16bn Power Spending
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has challenged the Federal Government to investigate and prosecute him if it has evidence linking him to the alleged $16 billion spent on power-sector projects while he was in office. Atiku, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, said the renewed allegations were meant to distract Nigerians from questions about revenues saved since the removal of petrol subsidy. He asked the Tinubu administration to account for the funds. He said Nigerians accepted the hardship caused by subsidy removal on the promise that the savings would support development. According to him, higher fuel, transport and food costs have severely weakened workers’ purchasing power.
