Miyetti Allah President Granted N2bn Bail by Federal High Court

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted N2 billion bail to Miyetti Allah Kauta Hore president Bello Bodejo. The court ordered two sureties in like sum: one must reside in Abuja with a three-year tax clearance certificate, the other must own property in Abuja valued at N2 billion. As part of the conditions, Bodejo will deposit his international passport with the court registrar. He must obtain court permission before traveling abroad. Justice Inyang Ekwo held the alleged money laundering offences are bailable under the ACJA and within the court’s discretion to grant bail. The trial is now adjourned to October 5, with further sittings on October 6 and 7. Bodejo was remanded by the EFCC on July 9 after pleading not guilty to the charges.
