Tinubu Records Case: I Believe Secrecy Is Deepening Public Mistrust

While travelling to my side hustle in Sweden, I saw a French warship in Swedish waters. It made me reflect on Europe’s relationship with Nigeria and my long-standing concerns about Western influence in African politics. I believe the continuing dispute over United States records linked to allegations against President Bola Tinubu is worsening public mistrust. Many Nigerians see the effort to keep the records sealed as evidence that foreign institutions may be protecting him, although these claims remain disputed and unproven. I intend to petition Swedish authorities to raise my concerns about transparency and Nigeria’s 2027 election. In my view, the Nigerian public deserves clarity, and the election must be free, fair and open to democratic participation. I also question claims that security concerns justify withholding the records. Allegations of bribery, foreign protection and misuse of public funds should be independently investigated rather than treated as established facts.
