Rivers Revenue Service Warns Motorists Against Unauthorised Road Tax Collectors

The Rivers State Internal Revenue Service has warned motorists, transport operators and business owners not to pay taxes or levies to unauthorised collectors. In a notice dated October 21, 2026, the agency said the Rivers State Ministry of Transport is not authorised to collect road tax or other levies from motorists and transport operators. It also named Explore Strategic Alliance Ltd as not being appointed to collect Motor Vehicle Transport tickets or any tax on behalf of the state. Residents were urged to request official identification from anyone claiming to be a tax agent and verify their credentials with the revenue service before making payments. The agency said unauthorised collectors and impersonators risk arrest and prosecution.
