INEC Omits Adebutu From Final Ogun Governorship Candidates List

INEC has published its final list of candidates for the February 6, 2027 Ogun governorship election, with PDP candidate Ladi Adebutu and his running mate absent from the list. The list contains 13 candidates, but the commission had not given an official explanation for the omission at the time of reporting. The development follows allegations that Adebutu’s name was missing from the PDP membership register submitted to INEC, a claim the Ogun PDP has rejected. In Gombe, PDP candidate Isa Ali Pantami also faced a legal dispute over his nomination. After a court ordered a fresh primary, he won the rerun held on September 29. The omission raises uncertainty over the PDP’s participation in the Ogun election and whether the party will seek clarification or legal redress.
