Boko Haram Kills Brigadier General and 17 Soldiers in Borno Base Raid

Jihadists overran a military base in Benisheikh, Borno state, killing Brigadier General O.O. Braimah and at least 17 soldiers. They also torched vehicles and buildings before withdrawing. Local government and intelligence sources told AFP this was the second death of a high-ranking officer in five months. The military says insurgents tried to breach the perimeter but were repelled.
