DSS Warns Osun Churches, Mosques and Public Venues of Alleged Terror Threat

The Department of State Services has warned religious leaders in Osun State about an alleged plan to attack churches, mosques and other public gathering places ahead of the 2027 general elections. The agency reportedly met separately with Muslim and Christian leaders in Osogbo and urged them to strengthen security around worship centres, schools, markets, viewing centres and other crowded locations. Religious bodies were advised to monitor suspicious activity, restrict parking close to congregations and provide security at their premises. Osun Muslim and Christian leaders who attended the meetings said the DSS described the alert as intelligence-based and warned that attackers could target parts of the South-West to create fear and disrupt electoral activities. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or movements to security agencies.
