DSS Chief Ajayi Receives NUJ Man of the Year Award, Restates Press Freedom Pledge

DSS Director-General Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi has received the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ Man of the Year 2026 award, describing it as recognition of improved cooperation between the Service and the media. Ajayi said the DSS would continue to support press freedom and uphold his pledge that journalists should not be arrested while carrying out their lawful professional duties. He added that the recognition would encourage stronger efforts on national security and journalists’ professional development. NUJ President Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi said the union unanimously selected Ajayi for his engagement with the media and the DSS’s support for the NUJ National Security Summit held in Abuja in June.
