Zamfara Air Strike: DHQ Affirms Only Terrorists Killed, No Civilian Losses

Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters says its post-strike assessment in Zamfara found no civilian deaths. The May 10 operation targeted a high-level meeting of terrorist ring leaders in Tumfa Village, Shinkafi LGA. Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, said credible multi-source intelligence identified the site as a planning hub for attacks. He called circulating casualty figures speculative and urged Nigerians to rely on official data. He stressed that the Armed Forces adhere to strict rules of engagement and international humanitarian law. Any verified civilian casualty will be transparently communicated, and ground troops continue clearance operations.
