Police Arrest Suspect in JAMB Registrar Impersonation Fraud Case
Police attached to JAMB headquarters have arrested a suspect over an alleged syndicate that used fake social media accounts to impersonate the board’s registrar and defraud members of the public. The investigation began after JAMB submitted a petition alleging conspiracy, impersonation, identity theft and fraud. Police traced phone numbers and bank accounts linked to the scheme through Nasarawa, Katsina and Anambra states. Investigators said some people initially traced were victims of the fraud. The arrested suspect, Nwogba Arinze, allegedly posed as the registrar’s personal assistant and used the bank account of his late nephew to conceal his identity. Police say they are still pursuing the alleged principal suspect and other possible accomplices.
