Rivers ADC Tells Wike: Elections Are Won by Voters, Not Boasts
The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has dismissed comments attributed to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike that Rotimi Amaechi would be defeated by noon on election day. At a civic reception in Omagwa, Wike reportedly said candidates backed by the Rainbow Coalition would win the forthcoming elections. Rivers ADC chairman Chukwudi Dimkpa said election results cannot be decided through intimidation or public declarations before voting takes place. Dimkpa also criticised the timing of the event, alleging that it coincided with mourners travelling to Ubima for the burial of Amaechi’s mother. He urged Rivers residents not to be intimidated ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that voters would decide based on performance and credibility.
