Adebayo Demands Release of Five Men Detained in Borno Over Anti-Tinubu Shirts

SDP presidential candidate Adewale Adebayo has called for the release of five men reportedly detained in Borno State after wearing shirts critical of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The detainees are Ba’ana Grema, Mustapha Abba, Abacha Mohammed Ali, Adam Umar Gubio and Abdulhamid Mohammed. Adebayo said there was no indication that they engaged in violence or any criminal conduct. He urged the Borno State Government, the police and the Federal Government to protect citizens’ constitutional right to peaceful political expression. He also asked the police to remain neutral and protect all political opinions ahead of the 2026/2027 campaign season.
