Troops Arrest Suspected Motorcycle Thief at Plateau Checkpoint
Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace, have arrested a suspected motorcycle thief and recovered a motorcycle during a stop-and-search operation in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The suspect, Hosiah Alfred, was intercepted at the Sabon Gari checkpoint at about 5:50 a.m. on August 24, 2026. He was reportedly travelling in a commercial vehicle from Abuja to Duklin, Bauchi State, with the motorcycle. Security sources said the troops questioned him after becoming suspicious of the motorcycle. He allegedly confessed that it was stolen from a dispatch rider, Yusuf Gideon, in Abuja. The suspect and recovered motorcycle remain in military custody while investigations continue.
