Aninri, Awgu and Oji River Residents Demand Accountability From Rep. Onwuegbu
The people of Aninri, Awgu and Oji River deserve representation that can be measured by completed projects, functioning infrastructure and clear public records. Questions remain over the stalled Ivo Multi-Purpose Earth Dam, which was reported to be about 80% complete before funding challenges halted work, even as nearby communities face flooding concerns. The erosion damage on the Oji River–Awgu Federal Road also highlights concerns about preventive action. While Rep. Anayo Onwuegbu’s inspection and call for intervention were welcome, constituents are asking what was done to prevent critical infrastructure from deteriorating to the point of collapse. Federal officials have cited inadequate drainage as a contributing factor. Constituents are also seeking clarity on reported empowerment schemes, road works, healthcare interventions, scholarships and skills programmes. They want verifiable details: what was promised, what was funded, where projects are located, how many people benefited and whether the projects remain functional. This is a call for transparent stewardship, not political drama. Aninri, Awgu and Oji River residents deserve a project-by-project account of representation and results.
