Israel Strikes Gaza: New Hamas Military Chief Killed in City Raid
Israel’s military says it killed Mohammed Odeh, the new head of Hamas’s military wing, in a strike in central Gaza City. The attack hit a residential tower in a busy market area just days after his predecessor died in a similar raid. Medics and witnesses reported at least three Palestinians dead and dozens wounded as rescue teams scrambled through the rubble. Israeli forces said the operation followed months of surveillance and also targeted an apartment linked to militants from the October 7 attack. The strike came despite a ceasefire agreed in October, which Hamas has accused Israel of repeatedly breaching. The group’s health ministry says over 900 people have been killed in strikes during the truce. The Israel Defense Forces and security service vowed to continue targeting those responsible for the October 7 massacre, which killed around 1,200 Israelis and left more than 250 in captivity.
