Makinde Appeals to UN for Independent Probe of Oriire School Abduction

Makinde Appeals to UN for Independent Probe of Oriire School Abduction

In a statewide address, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde urged the United Nations and international rights bodies to investigate the mass abduction and rescue of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area. He stressed that this call is meant to strengthen public confidence, not to undermine Nigerian institutions. Makinde insisted on a transparent review to uncover any negligence, failures or collusion before and after the victims were freed. Under Nigeria’s Constitution, national security falls under federal responsibility. The governor said citizens deserve a full and credible account of events and clear measures to ensure no community faces such a tragedy again.
