Yola Court Remands Man for Nephew’s Death After Alleged Herbicide Theft
A 49-year-old man, Hamman Saidu, appeared before Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola, Adamawa State. He was remanded for allegedly beating his nephew, Mark Bibulyi, to death after neighbours accused the teenager of stealing herbicides. Magistrate Dorcas Mavah adjourned the case until 24 June 2026. The delay will allow the prosecution to send the case file to the state Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice. Police Prosecutor ASP Ezra Bulus told the court that on 2 June, witnesses say the deceased entered Saidu’s home and took packs of herbicides. Neighbours held him and informed Saidu, who then struck his nephew on the head with a stick. The injury proved fatal. The defendant pleaded guilty and remains in custody.
