Tenant Allegedly Injures Landlord During Dispute Over Rent Increase in Benin
A tenant in Benin City, Edo State, has allegedly injured his landlord during a dispute over a proposed rent increase from ₦300,000 to ₦1 million. The tenant said he renovated and tiled part of the apartment with his own money to support his business. He claimed the landlord later demanded extra payment for the work and raised the rent. In a video shared online on October 30, the tenant admitted injuring the landlord but said he acted in self-defence after the landlord allegedly slapped him first. The landlord was left with head injuries following the confrontation.
