Salone del Mobile Makes First Nigeria Appearance at Design Week Lagos 2026
Salone del Mobile, the Milan-based international design fair, made its first official appearance in Nigeria during Design Week Lagos 2026 at the National Theatre. The event brought together Nigerian architects, interior designers, artists and business leaders with members of the Italian delegation, including Salone del Mobile general manager Marco Sabetta and SaloneSatellite founder Marva Griffin Wilshire. Discussions focused on connecting African designers with international markets. The inaugural IDEA Honours also recognised Marva Griffin Wilshire, architect Lesley Lokko and artist Yinka Shonibare. The programme explored the theme, “Making a New Africa: From Material to Market,” with a focus on African materials, heritage and creative enterprise.
