Ride-Hailing Driver Says ₦80,000 Fuel Bill Left Him With Just ₦60,000 in Fares
A Nigerian ride-hailing driver has complained about the cost of working on Bolt and inDrive, saying fuel and vehicle expenses are making it difficult to earn a living. He said he bought fuel worth ₦80,000 and drove through the night on both platforms but made only ₦60,000 in fares. According to him, the earnings did not cover his fuel cost, leaving nothing for his family’s needs. The driver said he also has to provide for his wife and four children, pay school fees, buy food and maintain his vehicle. His experience has renewed concerns about low ride-hailing fares and the rising operating costs faced by drivers.
