Facade vs Adapter: How to Choose the Right Design Pattern
Facade and Adapter are both structural design patterns, but they solve different problems. Use a Facade when you need to simplify a complex subsystem. For example, an investment platform may require KYC checks, document validation, payments and notifications. A Facade gives the client one simple entry point while coordinating those services behind the scenes. Use an Adapter when two interfaces are incompatible. If your application expects one payment-gateway interface but a third-party provider exposes another, an Adapter translates between them without forcing you to rewrite the application. They can work together. A Facade can manage the overall investment workflow, while Adapters connect it to payment providers such as Paystack or Flutterwave. In short: Facade simplifies complexity; Adapter makes incompatible interfaces work together.
