Report: DSS May Seek Adjournment of Sowore’s Cybercrime Case Until After 2027 Election

The Department of State Services is reportedly considering an adjournment of the alleged cybercrime case against AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore until after the 2027 presidential election. The case concerns social media posts in which Sowore described President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal”. Sowore pleaded not guilty and has described the prosecution as politically motivated and an attempt to limit free expression. According to a source familiar with the matter, the DSS believes pausing the proceedings would allow Sowore to participate fully in election activities. The agency is expected to formally communicate its position to the Federal High Court when it resumes sittings after its annual vacation.
