Gunmen Kill Nigerian Army Colonel During Alleged Abduction Attempt in Nasarawa

Colonel Abdussalam A. Ude, a serving Nigerian military intelligence officer, was reportedly killed after gunmen attempted to abduct him at his residence in Badna, New Karu LGA of Nasarawa State on Monday evening, July 27, 2026. Sources said the assailants opened fire as he arrived home. He allegedly resisted the abduction attempt, after which he was shot several times. His wife, driver and security guard also sustained gunshot injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. Colonel Ude, who was from Igbo-Eze South LGA in Enugu State, had served in military intelligence and counter-terrorism roles, including assignments linked to operations in the North-East, Chad and France. Security agencies have begun an investigation to identify and arrest the attackers. His burial is scheduled for Tuesday at Mambilla Mosque in Abuja, in line with Islamic rites.
