Wike Elevates FCT Traditional Rulers, Pledges Key Infrastructure Upgrades
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has upgraded all traditional stools in the FCT. He raised second-class rulers to first class and third-class chiefs to second class. Speaking during a thank-you visit to Abaji Area Council on March 10, 2026, he thanked residents for their overwhelming support in the recent council elections. He urged the government to match their loyalty with real development. Barr. Wike approved a new palace design for the Ona of Abaji and ordered fixes for major erosion sites, an abandoned road, and the Gurara/Yangoji bridge. He also promised that the University of Science and Technology, Abaji, will soon begin full operations to boost education and local investment.
