EFCC Extradites Two Nigerians to US Over Alleged Sextortion of Teenage Boys
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has extradited Mudashiru Afeez Olawale and Adebola Festus Adekunle to the United States to face charges over alleged online sexual extortion of teenage boys. According to the EFCC, separate FBI investigations linked the men to sextortion schemes targeting male minors aged 13 to 17. The suspects allegedly used sexual images to demand money through remittance services, gift cards and cryptocurrency. The cases reportedly involved two American minors who died by suicide after alleged online exploitation and threats to share their images. In one case, a 13-year-old was allegedly pressured for money after being contacted on Instagram and asked to exchange nude photographs. The EFCC said the extraditions followed investigations and court proceedings, including a Court of Appeal ruling in July 2026 that cleared the way for Olawale's transfer to the US.
