Lagos Businessman Arrested at Airport Over Alleged Cocaine Concealed in Shoes and Bags
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it arrested a 38-year-old businessman at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, over 4.80kg of alleged cocaine. According to the agency, 16 parcels were concealed in eight pairs of trainers and canvas shoes, while 195 wraps were hidden in the railings of four travel bags. He was reportedly preparing to board a flight to Milan, Italy. The suspect allegedly told investigators that he used ₦16 million in compensation from a previous workplace injury to buy part of the consignment. The NDLEA also reported separate drug seizures at Lagos and Rivers ports, including cannabis and codeine-based cough syrup.
