EU Plans New Funding and Exchange Projects for Nigerian Artists
The European Union says it is developing new projects and funding opportunities for cultural events and artists in Nigeria and across Africa. The EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, announced the plan at the Lagos Contemporary Circus Festival, organised by the National Theatre with EU support. He said the festival brought together Nigerian, Ethiopian, Ivorian and Swiss performers. Mignot said the EU has supported the Kano Creative Summit and film festivals in Nigeria, and will also back the Lagos Biennial of Contemporary Art in November. The planned initiatives will include training, workshops, co-creations and artistic exchanges between African and European creatives.
