Taraba’s Karim-Lamido LG Declares 24-Hour Curfew After Militia Killings
Karim-Lamido Local Government in Taraba State has imposed a round-the-clock curfew following a fresh wave of attacks by suspected armed militias. Villages around Didango, Mutum Daya, Kodai, Gurum and neighbouring settlements have seen property destruction and multiple fatalities, forcing many residents to flee. Council Chairperson Mrs. Virginia Baba Bambur said the decision was necessary due to escalating violence and ongoing loss of lives. She directed the Army, Police, DSS and NSCDC to enforce the curfew strictly and promised a full investigation to bring those responsible to justice. Residents are urged to remain calm as security efforts continue. Karim-Lamido has experienced repeated communal clashes, bandit raids and ethnic tensions in recent years, leading to displacement and damage across the area.
