NSCDC Rescues 15 Children Allegedly Sold for ₦2m Each by Fake NGO
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has rescued 15 children allegedly trafficked from Kokona LGA of Nasarawa State and sold for ₦2 million each. The suspects allegedly used a fake civil society organisation and an orphanage scheme called the Back to School Project to convince less-privileged parents to release their children with promises of free education. NSCDC said the children were traced to locations including Anambra, Imo and Enugu states after intelligence-led operations. Three alleged buyers, including one man and two women, have been arrested, while one of the 16 reportedly trafficked children is yet to be found. The corps said all suspects found culpable will be prosecuted after investigations are concluded.
