Federal Ministry of Works Says Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project Remains on Course

The Federal Ministry of Works has denied claims that the 750km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway has been discontinued or replaced by the East-West Road project. It said the planned reconstruction of about 400km of the East-West Road between Edo and Cross River is an additional project. The ministry stated that the work will not alter the original coastal highway alignment. According to the clarification, construction is ongoing on sections in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Ogun and Ondo states. Survey and design work is also continuing on the remaining sections through Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers states. The ministry said procurement and construction for the outstanding sections will begin after the survey and design process is completed.
