50 Zamfara Elders Kidnapped by Bandits During Peace Mission
Suspected bandits abducted fifty elders from Magamin Diddi village in Maradun Local Government Area. The victims had gone on a reconciliation mission to restore market access but never returned. Local officials say the kidnappers are led by a kingpin known as Jammo. He had requested peace talks after clashes with security forces but betrayed the committee and released only eleven members. Jammo is now demanding ₦24 million for rifles seized during earlier attacks. The councilor of Magami/Faru ward and the Maradun LGA chairman both condemned the move. They stressed that the governor never approved the mission and warned against trusting bandits in any form of reconciliation.
