Is Wike’s Rainbow Coalition Helping or Dividing the APC?
The Rainbow Coalition associated with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has raised questions about its impact on the APC. The alliance is presented as supporting President Bola Tinubu at the presidential level while retaining ambitions to contest governorship, National Assembly and state assembly seats. This arrangement could leave the APC united at the top but divided in contests further down the ballot. Some party leaders may see it as a strategic partnership, while others may view it as a source of tension within state chapters. Personally, I see it as unfair to welcome an alliance that supports the president but competes against the party in other elections. In my view, this could deepen internal divisions among APC governors, senators and other stakeholders.
