Suspected Gunmen Kill Two Farmers, Including 23-Year-Old, in Pankshin

Suspected gunmen ambushed and killed two men working on their farms in Takkas community, Fier Ward, Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State. The first attack occurred on Sunday, July 19, and the second followed on Monday evening, July 29, 2026. One of the victims was identified as 23-year-old Fwangyil Adams Dankyes. His body was taken to the General Hospital in Pankshin, while the other was deposited at a nearby Christian hospital. The member representing Pankshin North in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dewan Gabriel, condemned the killings as barbaric and senseless. He urged security agencies to intensify efforts to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible. Residents say the attacks have heightened fears of returning to their farms at the peak of the planting season. Gabriel appealed to locals to remain calm, stay law-abiding, and share any information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
