9 Dead, 17 Injured in Kankia-Katsina Highway Crash
The Federal Road Safety Corps in Katsina State confirmed nine fatalities and 17 injuries after a collision between a Toyota Hummer commercial bus and a trailer on the Kankia-Katsina highway. The crash occurred around 8:00 p.m. at Kwanar Gidan Mutum Daya. Rescue teams from the Kankia unit arrived within minutes. Four victims were burnt beyond recognition when the bus burst into flames. All injured were taken to the General Hospital, Kankia, while the deceased were deposited at the hospital mortuary. The Sector Commander extended condolences to the families and prayed for the quick recovery of those hurt. Preliminary investigations are under way to determine the cause. The FRSC urged drivers to avoid speeding, reckless overtaking, and to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy ahead of Eid-el-Kabir travel.
