Peter Obi Slams EFCC for Firing Tear Gas Inside University Teaching Hospital
I was alarmed by reports that EFCC operatives stormed the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital to arrest a leading cardiothoracic surgeon and discharged tear-gas canisters within the wards. Patients and medical staff were forced to flee, putting lives at risk. This thoughtless act not only jeopardises the safety of the sick and their caregivers but also undermines public confidence in our institutions. Hospitals must remain safe sanctuaries for healing, not scenes of confrontation. We must uphold the rule of law and respect the dignity of our health professionals. Disrespecting medical spaces erodes trust and threatens progress. It’s time to demand civility and accountability in every public office.
