Suspected Snatchers Maim Bauchi Student, Sever Two Fingers and Ear
On April 23, four armed assailants accosted a 22-year-old 200-level student of Sa’adu Zungur University in Gadau town. They demanded her phone. During the robbery, one attacker used a knife to sever two of her fingers and part of her ear before fleeing with the device, two ATM cards and her ID. Bauchi State Police confirmed the incident and said Maryam Yakeem is receiving treatment at the Teaching Hospital in Azare. They clarified that reports of her death are false and that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects. The command pledged to boost its Safe School Initiative across all off-campus areas. Students were urged to avoid isolated spots at night and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
