Four Girls Die After Boat Capsizes in Jigawa Pond
Four girls aged 12 and 13 have died after a boat carrying eight passengers capsized at Dudduru Pond in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State. The passengers were travelling from Kwadige Village to Chai Chai Sabuwa Market on Wednesday afternoon when strong winds reportedly caused the boat to overturn. Four other passengers were rescued by nearby farmers, with residents of Kwadige and Kuna communities joining the rescue effort. The NSCDC said the victims were buried according to Islamic rites. It urged boat operators and passengers to avoid water travel during dangerous weather and to observe basic water-safety measures.
