Gunmen have abducted a Catholic seminarian, Kelvin Ochai, after invading the Catholic Bishop’s residence in the Asa III area of Otukpo Local Government Area, Benue State. The attack reportedly occurred on Wednesday, July 29. The Otukpo Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Joseph Aboyi Itodo, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday, July 31. Bishop Michael Ekwoyi Apochi called on Catholics and other Nigerians to pray for Ochai’s safe release, as well as for others being held by kidnappers across the country.
