Oyo Police Rescue Five Congolese Nationals in Suspected Ibadan Trafficking Case
Oyo State Police say they rescued five Congolese nationals suspected to be victims of human trafficking during an intelligence-led operation at a hotel in the Araromi area of Ibadan. Police said preliminary findings indicate that the victims were allegedly brought into Nigeria by a Beninese national who promised them better economic opportunities. The suspect was not at the hotel when operatives arrived and is being sought. The rescued individuals have received medical attention and will be handed over to the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service for further action. Police appealed for credible information that could help identify and arrest others linked to the suspected trafficking operation.
