Onanuga Defends Tinubu’s Economic Record, Cites Governors’ Support and Falling Food Prices
Presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga has defended President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, saying 33 state governors support the administration’s direction. Reacting to criticism of the government’s economic record, Onanuga said food prices were falling and challenged critics of official inflation data to check market prices. He claimed a bag of rice that previously sold for about ₦120,000 now costs below ₦50,000 in some areas. He also pointed to foreign reserves nearing $60 billion, improved access to foreign exchange for businesses and the use of naira cards abroad as signs of progress. Onanuga added that foreign direct investment was returning and creating jobs.
