Music Scholars and Churches Honour Late Apostolic Faith Music Director Rev. John Aina

Music scholars, church leaders and gospel artistes gathered at the University of Lagos for a musical tribute to Rev. John Aina, the late former Director of Music of the Apostolic Faith Church. Speakers remembered Aina as an accomplished organist, composer and teacher who helped develop church choir and orchestra music. They said his work inspired generations of Nigerian musicians and strengthened the role of music in spreading the gospel. Participants called for his compositions to be preserved and proposed student music prizes in his name. Musicians from Nigeria, Canada, France and the United States performed in tribute to Aina, who was born in 1938 and died on May 1.
