DSS Rearraigns Borno Youth Leader Over Alleged Boko Haram, ISWAP Ransom Links
The Department of State Services has rearraigned Borno youth leader Samaila Kaigama before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations of aiding Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province. Kaigama faces seven counts, including alleged terrorism financing, receiving ransom funds, failing to disclose information on terrorist activities, cybercrime, money laundering and incitement to public disorder. He has been remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre. The prosecution alleges that he communicated with members of the armed groups, negotiated ransom payments and used online platforms to solicit money from hostage families. One allegation concerns ₦1.8 million said to have been paid by a hostage's family. The court adjourned the case until November 13, 2026, for further proceedings. The allegations have not been proven in court.
