El-Rufai Demands Apology From Defence Minister Musa Over Alleged Defamation
Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has threatened legal action against the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, over remarks allegedly made during a television interview. In a September 7 letter issued through his lawyers, El-Rufai demanded a retraction, an unreserved apology and the preservation of relevant evidence. The disputed comments reportedly concerned banditry, killings, demolitions, ransom payments and El-Rufai’s conduct as Kaduna governor. The legal team gave Musa and his representatives 24 hours to acknowledge the letter and seven days to provide a substantive written response. El-Rufai says he may pursue further legal remedies if the matter is not resolved.
